Fire Matt Millen

Matt Millen was hired in 2001 to take over as the GM for the Detroit Lions. The previous season the team went 9-7 and just missed the playoffs when they lost on the last play of the final game against the St. Louis Rams. Millen had before that had never been a coarch or has he ever had a front office position ever. Yet, he was named CEO and GM of the Detroit Lion franchise. Millen was talking very stern at his first press conference saying that they are not in a rebuilding project, and that his goal is to "win now".

Since then, the his record has been dreadful. In more then 5 1/2 season with the lions he has won only 23 times and lost 68. Thats in average of a 4-12 record! He still has New England, Chicago, and Dallas on there schedule. The other 2 games are Minnesota and Greenbay. Which they already lost to both of those teams this year. Every season he has been there they have lost at least 10 games! They have only won back to back games 2 times, and have never won 3 games in a row since Millen has been apart of this organization. When exactly is "NOW"?

I was reading from www.firemillen.com yes, there is a website. The Lions right now are tied with Arizona and Oakland for the worst record in the NFL at 2-9. Someone did a google search for Tie-Breakers in the NFL. They go on Strength of schedule, Lions have the 25th place, lower then both Ariza and Oakland. If the season were to end today do we want Millen taking our first pick overall in the draft? The article put it best when they said this "it would bring wasting a draft pick to a new level of suck."

Lions owner William Clay Ford gave Millen a five-year contract extension before last season when Millen's record was 16-48. Is this guy on crack??? Why is Millen still the GM? The problem goes way beyond Millen. They need new ownership and the fact is until William Clay Ford is owner the Lions will continue to be the laughing stock of the NFL. If you're a Lions fan looking for hope. It's not going to happen. Its not going to get any better. WE SUCK

Judge not one another

For some reason that I don’t understand there is this "general idea" (for lack of a better term) that all or most Christians are hypocrites. Sure there are some people in the church who are and yes, there are people who judge people and look down on someone they shouldn't, and they take the "I am mightier then thou" approach. But to say all Christians are its ridiculous. People say "Christians" put themselves up on a pedestal. I don’t believe that’s true. I think the "unbelievers" who have put Christians up on the pedestal. So when Christians screw up they torch them for it. People have to understand that we are all human we all make mistakes. Christians make mistakes they screw up. I screw up. You screw up! Everyone screws up! No one is perfect.

There is a story in the bible I don’t know what book and what chapter, I don’t know word for word but its basically about the Pharisee’s who went to this prostitutes house caught her in the "act" dragged her out of bed, without her cloths brought her to Jesus and asked him to judge her. They told him the commandments say she should be killed. They had wanted and planned on stoning this chick. The Pharisee’s asked Jesus what he thinks they should do. He's told them if there is anyone who hasn’t sinned let them cast the stone. Then he bent down and started to write something in the sand. The bible never says what he wrote, but the people who were there with the stones in there hands ready to throw them at her. Everyone dropped the stones and walked away. I personally think he wrote all the sins that everyone in attendance has done. Because there were convicted and were ashamed or whatever and they walked away realizing they have done things that they werent proud of that were just has bad as that prostitute had done. Then after everyone had left and it was just Jesus and the prostitute he looked up at her and told her that she was forgiven and to go and sin no more.

So I guess my point is everyone makes mistakes Christians and non-Christians alike. So if you’re not a Christian please try to see the other side of things. Stop putting humans on a pedestal. There going to fall eventually, and when they do. Don’t tear them down.

There's so much more to this story then what I'm talking about but you get my point.

My Proposed College Playoff System

I was going to wait until all the games have been played out before I revealed my playoffs system. But I got to excited about what been happening in college football to wait any longer. Plus if certain teams lost my system wouldn’t look that impressive any more. It will also give people a chance to share there thoughts so maybe I can improve it a little more. So without any more delay here it is without further eddo.

It seems the NCAA and the BCS is all about the "money" so here's a way to get all the money they want and more. This system involves all the polls and the BCS and all the bowl games.
My goal is to get 16 teams into a playoff system. There are 12 conferences (including the Independent).

The top 6 conference champions get in the playoffs for sure the rest of the 12 teams are "At Large" bids. How do you decide who are the top conferences? The answer is the BCS. Since they can figure out whom the top teams are in the nation why not average there teams rankings and figure out which conference is the strongest? With that in mind, I think we can get a pretty good Idea who those 6 conferences are even though the BCS hasn’t given us the answer. Less say the top 6 conference are in no particular order are:

SEC, Big 10, Big East, Big 12, Pac-10, ACC

Since I didn’t wait to until all the games were played out we don’t know exactly who the conference champs are. But I will just use who ever has the best record in there conference. That makes Arkansas in the SEC. (sorry Florida fans remember games haven’t been played a lot of rankings will change in 2 weeks) Ohio State in the Big 10, Big East well, 3 teams are tied so will say West Virginia because there ranked higher in the polls. Big 12 champ has the same situation as the Big East we'll say Texas again because there higher ranked at the moment. Pac-10 is USC. ACC leader is Georgia Tech.

Now we still have 10 spots to fill. As I said earlier we will use the "At Large" bids, therefore we will use the BCS rankings to get the highest ranked remaining 10 teams. Which means these teams will also be included in the playoffs. Michigan, Florida, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Louisville, LSU, Boise State, Auburn, Rutgers, and finally Oklahoma. (Yes there are some teams who deserve to be in there like Virginia Tech and possibly California or BC and others but oh well they should have played better during the regular season. Here are our final 16 teams.

Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Florida, Notre Dame, Arkansas. West Virginia, Wisconsin, Louisville LSU, Boise State, Auburn, Texas, Rutgers, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma,

It just so happens that the top 16 teams are the top 16 BSC rankings. Last week win I did this I believe we had a 23 ranked team in Wake Forest who and somewhere in there was California. Oklahoma and Georgia Tech didn’t make it.

I haven’t decided on how I'd like to rank the teams from there. Should the conference champs be the top 6 ranked teams? Or should we still use the BSC rankings for that? But for now we will use the rankings from the BCS. We will use the March Madness NCAA bracket template of course. This is what we are looking at for our bracket if the season ended today.

(1) Ohio State
(16) Oklahoma

(8) Wisconsin
(9) Louisville

(5) Notre Dame
(12) Auburn

(4) Florida
(13) Texas

(6) Arkansas
(11) Boise State

(3) USC
(14) Rutgers

(7) West Virginia
(10) LSU

(2) Michigan
(15) Georgia Tech

Now that looks like some big time football games.

It’s a 4 week process; the first week of the playoffs could possibly start December 9 or wait a week for the 16th. You could have some games start on a Thursday or Friday still like sometimes college football does. you can arrange it where you still have Monday January 1st we would have the final 4 bracket the following Thursday, Friday or Saturday the championship game would be played. I think this has really good potential. We can still call the final 3 games the Rose, Fiesta, Orange each year they rotate who's the championship game. We can still have all the minor bowls being played. I don’t think it takes anything away from those games. They were pretty much meaning less anyway. Those fans of the schools still get to see there teams in there bowl game. The minor bowls can still scheduled at the same time they are right now. As long as they're are not one of the bowls partcipating in the the playoff system. That way we can still get all the games during the Christmas and New Year Week. We all love the January 1st game, we get to keep those.

I think my system is great there maybe some flaws. But it can all be worked out. I wish there were someway this I could get this noticed by someone important.

Please let me know what you think?

Knight Strikes Again!

Knight has done it again. You would think after the 1,283,123 time he would learn not to touch one of his players. But for some reason this hot headed maniac has messed with another one of his kids.

For those who haven’t heard, this is coming from Fox Sports website.

Texas Tech Coach Bobby Knight went after Michael Prince, forcefully pushing his chin upward and telling him to look him in the eye, during a time out late in the Red Raiders' 86-74 victory over Gardner Webb.

Athletic director Gerald Myers defended Knight on Tuesday, saying he did nothing wrong when "quickly lifted" Prince's chin. The president of the school's faculty senate James H. Smith said Knights action was not "physical abuse or violence." - Fox Sports

ESPN has run crazy with this story. If you've had a chance to watch TV you'll know it's all over sports center they keep replaying previous incidence that Knight has been involved and man are there a ton of them. It has been totally blown what has happened out of per portion in a way the only sports center could do it in. The reason why I said that is Michael Prince and his parents along with the school is backing the way Knight has handled himself and they support him fully.

My own opinion is that Knight should not be punished because everyone involved has no problem with what has taken place so the media hype is sickening and they should just shut up about it. Yes, Knight was wrong in touching that player. 15 to 20 years ago it wouldn’t have been a problem. But today it’s different. A coach cannot put there hands on one of there players period. It’s the only thing that Knight has done wrong this time around. Next time he better pray that the parent's are a lot like the Prince family.
So you’re asking me "Why are you writing a Blog about it if you don’t want to hear about it". The answer is simple. I want to work for ESPN!!

BSC College Football "Shake Up"

I'm not sure college football could get anymore exciting right now. We saw some huge upsets this week, it had a huge impact in the rankings as well. It all started with the Louisville, Rutgers game. (3) Louisville was up 25 to 7 in the first half and (15) Rutgers comes from behind and takes control in the 2nd to win the game 28 to 25 on Thursday. What a stunner to Louisville, it looks as if there season is finished.

(1) Ohio State and (2) Michigan take care of business in there opponents this week. There getting ready for the epic battle in Columbus this coming weekend. If you ask me this is your "Super bowl" in college football right here. Who ever wins this one will end up winning the National Title at the Fiesta Bowl. If Michigan wins this could mean a whole lot for Mike Hart and his Heisman chances.

Next up is (4) Texas and (5) Auburn. These teams really blew there chances at a title. Both were upset and Auburn really laid an Egg. What can we say about the SEC? It's the best conference in football hands down. Big 10 is a distant 2nd. But speaking of the SEC (6) Florida sucked it up but came away with a win. (7) UCS beats a weak (21) OregonPac-10 conference game. YAWN. (8) California, seriously? Can the Pac-10 really be that bad? (9) Notre Dame beats Air force. I'm really disappointed with Fightin' Irish, there schedule is as easy as the UCF Golden Knights. The only real team they played they got man handled by. (10) West Virgina beats Cincy, I didn’t know Cincinnati had a football team, well that wraps up the top 10 ranked teams.

Moving unto the top 20 games (11) Tennessee (13) Arkansas match up, the Vols come up with the victory. Another SEC Ranked team (12) LSU beats Alabama. Yeah the SEC is that good! Finally, the team that everyone has been waiting for, undefeated (14) Boise State Broncos outlast San Jose State 23 to 20. How can you not cheer for a team that has a Blue field. That’s right ITS BLUE!?!?! (16) Wisconsin beats Iowa ,(17) Oklahoma defeats Texas Tech. (18) Wake Forest drops the hammer on FSU 30 to 0! Only thing that saves the Seminoles season is a win in against Florida. FSU 10 games and 5 loses??? Bowden has to answer that question! (19) Georgia Tech beats (if you can call it that) North Carolina 7-0. (20) Virgina Tech shuts out Kent State.

A couple of things to take not of after examining the Top 20 Ranked teams this week.
  • SEC had 5 Teams ranked in the Top 15.
  • The ACC really sucks this year. With Miami, FSU, Maryland, Virginia Tech You'd think it would be one of the best.
  • Boise State Broncos BLUE FIELD!!!! I had to bring this back up again.
  • Pac-10 conference looks better then ACC. Never thought I'd hear myself say that.
  • FSU gets shut out at home? What????

The BSC rankings after this weekends "Shake up"

  1. Ohio State
  2. Michigan
  3. USC
  4. Florida
  5. Notre Dame
  6. Rutgers
  7. Arkansas
  8. West Virginia
  9. Wisconson
  10. Louisville
Most of you know I am a huge Michigan Wolverines fan. Now please humor me I want to play "What if" scenario's with Michigan. Let’s say Michigan loses in Columbus.

"What if" USC gets beat by Notre Dame. Florida loses in the SEC conference game or FSU (laugh). That would make Notre Dame Number 2 right? Well... Michigan Destroyed Notre Dame earlier this year. So wouldn't it be right for them to stay at number 2? It all depends on what happens with the other games. But this is something can actually happen. Let’s continue. Rutgers has West Virginia left on there schedule. Arkansas still has LSU to get thru plus the conference Champ game against Florida. That’s why we need a playoff system. I've come up with a 2nd rendition to a "college playoff"

In coming weeks look out for a new Blog about my new theory on how to make a playoff system work in college football. Its genius it involves all the polls (Yes the BCS as well). I'll also layout what the Playoff Bracket will look after the teams have played in there Conference championship games.

Pre Opening night Magic Basketball and predictions

The Magic open up the season at Home in the no longer named "TD Waterhouse" newly named "Ginn Arena" tonight against the young and talented Chicago Bulls. What does this mean for the Magic? Probably a 0-1 start to the season (The "G" isn't pronounced like a "J")
Last night, the Bulls went into Miami and raped the heat unmercifully and left them naked in the street. 108 to 66. Oh Man did the Heat look old. One thing is for sure. The Bulls are really deep and Shaq doesn't get into playing shape until after the All-Star Break.
Unto the Magic, there a young team that looks promising. We say that every year. Why should this year going to be any different?

I believe we will see Howard grow into a man this year. He will no longer be the softie we've seen the last 2 years. I believe he will finally have an attitude and take over games the way we've all been hoping for. It wont his point production the will increase to much but his defensive presents. Throw in "The human light poll" Darko Milicic and we've got a blocking and rebounding Machine.

Jameer Nelson by the way will be our leading scorer this year and also lead the team in assists. I can see him being an 18 to 20 point 8 assist guy per night. Now let's add in Carlos Arroyo he's the PR savior for basketball and man this kid is just as good as Jameer is he won't get the playing time Jameer gets. But I am going to love watching them play on the court at the same time.

Now Grant Hilll..... Well, he's going to get hurt so why even bother wasting my breath? He's going to get hurt during the 2nd quarter of tonight's game. After scoring 11 points in the first quarter. Oh don't worry he'll be back in 3 weeks. But he'll be out again for 4 months after that.
This is where Ariza picks comes into play. I think he's got a decent shot at putting up numbers like Mr. Shawn Marion...... OK OK over exaggerated a little bit. Cut Marions numbers in half and you have Ariza, now that's more like it. He's going to be good. We'll see glimpses this season.
Now Turkoglu if this guy can plays D like he did at the end of last season. It will show in our record how he's playing.

The bench... well, in my opinion it's decent. Technically Darko is on the bench but it wont be more then 10 games before he's starting and if he's not starting its because Brian Hill hasn't changed and he's still the hard head that we fired him the first time for. I mentioned Arroyo, Dooling is really fast. He's a bit streaky and inconsistent. Battie will be solid off the bench. He does the things on the court that don't show up in stats.

Bogans, poor mans Deshawn Stevenson. He won't get but 10 min a game. Garrity... Man I hate this guy! Why does BHill play him? I swear he's blackmailed Brian somehow.
JJ Redick. This guy has really had a string of horrible luck since he's been drafted. It's not his fault though. It's the curse of the Magic Franchise. He's not even close to playing shape; he's way behind because of injuries. We really won't get to see him play until the 2nd half of the season and it won't be a whole lot either because Mr. Hill doesn't play his rookie's.
If were lucky he might be some Playing Time next year if Hill hasn't brought his head out of his butt by then.

My predictions:
Tonights opening game Bulls 98 Magic 92. Dwight Howard 22 points 18 rebounds
Season - 46 wins 36 loses 5 or 6 seed, out in the first round of the playoffs against the Bulls
